AN ACCIDENTAL FIRE IN THE ROMA FOOD FACTORY

August 12, 2019

On Saturday, June 8, an accidental fire occurred at the Aliments Roma plant. Although an important section for the smooth running of our business has been affected, we are pleased to announce that there were no injuries.  We cannot say as much about our equipment, unfortunately.  The fire at the Aliments Roma plant has a serious impact on our production.  A large part of our factory has been affected. You’ve probably noticed the absence of our  sausages  and our  pepperoni  on the refrigerated shelves of your grocery stores. The fire at Aliments Roma is responsible for this shortage, but our team is doubling its efforts to resume production as soon as possible.

Although the fire at Aliments Roma has slowed down our production, our team is as strong and creative as ever. We also celebrated  65 years of success  in 2018. According to a study by consumer firm Nielsen, our pepperoni is also the best-selling pepperoni across Canada. The food roma factory fire may temporarily prevent us from offering you some of our authentic Italian products. However, we will be back as soon as possible! Find out all the details about the Roma Foods fire here. And how we roll up our sleeves to resume production as soon as possible.

The consequences of the fire at Aliments Roma on production

The fire at our Aliments Roma plant occurred on Saturday, June 8, 2019. First of all, we would like to thank the firefighters who intervened very quickly. It is thanks to their excellent work that the damage was limited. In addition, we are able to resume our production.  The merchandise we had already finished before the Roma Foods fire was not affected.

So we were able to send this stock for distribution. The production of pepperoni  has started again  in July and we expect the return to shelves for late July or early August at the latest. Unfortunately, as the affected part of our business was that of sausage manufacturing, our equipment was greatly affected. We double our efforts and creativity so that our sausages return to your shelves as quickly as possible. We expect that sausage production will resume somewhere in August, and that the return to shelves will be towards the end of September.

A strong and united team despite the tragedy

Unfortunately, even though it is not the entire plant that has been damaged by fire, we are not able to produce at full capacity. That’s why you’ve probably noticed a shortage of our products at your grocery stores. We want to reassure you that this is only a  temporary situation.  The Aliments Roma team is doing everything possible so that you can enjoy our delicious  meats  , Italian sausages and pepperoni as soon as possible. Despite the fire, we remain strong and positive; we are happy that everyone is safe and sound! We want to thank all our customers for their support for all these years. We will keep you informed for the rest of the events.
