3 Tips to Keep Your Charcuterie Fresher, Longer
At Aliments Roma, we know there’s nothing quite like authentic Italian charcuterie to elevate your meals. Whether it’s our tasty pepperoni, crispy pancetta or tender mortadella, we all want to enjoy them as long as possible, without wasting a bite! Here are three easy tips to extend the shelf life of your deli meats while keeping them fresh and flavourful.
1. Freezer = Maximum Preservation
It may sound basic, but it’s often overlooked! Did you know freezing your deli meats can triple their shelf life?
According to Canada.ca, cold cuts like mortadella, capocollo or pepperoni can be stored:
– Up to 3 months in the freezer (whether opened or sealed)
– 3 to 14 days in the fridge
Roma tip: Avoid freezing dry-cured meats like salami or dry-salted pancetta. On the other hand, cooked meats like our Roma mortadella or pepperoni freeze very well!
2. Don’t remove the original packaging too soon!
Just bought your favourite charcuterie? Hold off on transferring it to another container.
Roma’s vacuum packaging is specially designed to keep your product fresh until the best-before date. As long as it’s sealed, you can store your deli meats in the original packaging in the fridge. That way, you’ll enjoy the full quality and authentic flavours of Roma deli meats without cutting their shelf life short.
3. No container? Use aluminum foil!
Missing a lid? No problem. Once opened, tightly wrap your pancetta, pepperoni, mortadella or other meats in aluminum foil to keep air out.
The result: 2 to 3 extra days of freshness.
Roma tip: For the best experience, enjoy your deli meats shortly after opening.
When it comes to fresh deli meat, choose Roma!
