Our story
ROMA stands for tradition, family, heritage and top quality. Our love for food and passion for eating well have been passed down through generations in our family and it shows in every bite.
The family business was founded in 1953. Cristina, Carlo, Ricardo and Alissa, the third generation of the Ramacieri family, continue the commitment to offer premium Italian charcuterie, sausages and pepperoni, aiming to remain a market leader.
1952
Pasquale Ramacieri Sr., a deli meat distributor in Montreal, begins making his own cooked pepperoni to meet the growing demand from local pizzerias. He goes on to create the first mortadella ever produced in Quebec.
1953
Pasquale officially founds Les Aliments ROMA with chef Luigi, his business partner for 15 years. Together, they open their first factory on Marconi Street in Montreal’s Little Italy neighborhood. ROMA becomes a pioneer of locally made Italian charcuterie.
1960s
Caserta pepperoni gains popularity through Steinberg grocery store tastings. In 1965, the company moves to a new factory; workforce grows to 40 employees by 1970.
2000s
Over the decades, Les Aliments ROMA expands its product range to offer Italian sausages, dried salami, original mortadella and other top-quality charcuterie made with local pork.
2023
ROMA celebrates 70 years of family history! Today, over 200 passionate employees help grow the brand across the country. ROMA pepperoni is now the top-selling pepperoni in Canada, a true testament to how the love of authentic flavour stands the test of time.
